PlumX metrics:
Patients identifying as transgender represent an extremely marginalized population within the healthcare system and regularly experience discrimination and biased attitudes from healthcare workers in regard to their sexual and gender identity. Medical personnel working in hospice and palliative care should be aware that such patients will more often suffer from life-threatening diseases, including neoplasms, and will be recipients of palliative care services in the coming years.
